The following organizations are resources for community members in need, people coming to the area, or for volunteers who may want to participate in their programs. SnapProvides services for low income families such as emergency shelter, affordable rental unit, help with your heat bills, help in preventing high heat bills, weatherizing your home, emergency food assistance, help starting your own business, help in buying a home, refrigerator replacement. Also provides economic development, food bank and community voice mail. Vanessa Behan Crisis NurseryProvides care for children from birth through age six when there is a possibility these children may be injured or neglected due to family crisis situations like homelessness, poverty, substance abuse and domestic violence. Also offers support, education and parenting classes throughout the year, crisis counseling and referrals to other community resources. Anna Ogden Hallhttp://www.ugmspokane.org/aoh_home.htm Provides to women with or without children, temporary shelter, food, clothing, and training for life and a secure environment that promotes dignity and God centered personal growth. Salvation Armyhttp://www.salvationarmyspokane.org Provides short-term shelter, assistance in obtaining permanent housing, food bank, clothing, household furnishings, rent assistance, energy assistance, worship and study opportunities, limited prescription assistance, transportation, and a community center. Spokane Mental HealthProfessional staff provides quality treatment and rehabilitation for those with mental illness and co-occurring disorders. These services include crisis response services; individual, family and group therapy; case management and support; vocational rehabilitation; psychiatric and psychological services; medication management and consumer education. Also assists families with children and adolescents with mental or behavioral issues. Treatment options include: brief intervention, rehabilitative case management, day support, psychological testing, and psychiatric services. Hope HouseProvides emergency shelter, hot showers, clean beds, toiletries, and nutritional food to single women. Lutheran Community ServicesProvides 24 hour sexual assault crisis line, crisis intervention, medical and legal advocacy, support and service counseling, family trauma and sexual assault response, adoption and maternity counseling, therapeutic foster care, child abuse prevention and education. Spokane Homeless Coalitionhttp://www.spokanehomeless.org A collaborative effort of the individuals and agencies who address the challenges of homelessness in our community. Through education, legislative advocacy, mutual support and the sharing of resources we strive to prevent homelessness as well as increase the ability of the community to respond to individual needs. Washington State Homeless Coalitionhttp://www.endhomelessnesswa.org Governed by representatives elected by their county coalitions and joined in our efforts by service providers, local, state and federal government agencies, legislators, business leaders, and individuals who are dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to shelter, a basic human need. |
